STEVEN PAUL ZINNER
AGE: 83 LANDING
Steven Paul Zinner, 83, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at his home in Landing. Born June 13, 1925, in Garfield, New Jersey, Steven moved to Sussex County, then lived in Morris Plains for 25 years before moving to Landing three years ago. He served proudly in the U.S. Army during World War II, earning the Bronze Star Medal for distinctive service in connection with military operations against the enemy. His tours included Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. Steven took great pride in his carpentry work over his 50-plus year career. A life member and former chief of the Frankford Fire Department, Steven was also a member of VFW Post 2833 in Kenvil and a member of the American Legion.
Steven is survived by his wife, Kathleen Zinner; his sister, Elizabeth Tolnay of Coconut Creek, Fla.; his three sons and their wives, Michael and Linda Zinner, Thomas and Marcia Zinner, Stephen and Sandra Zinner; his stepdaughter and her husband, Karen and Michael Gribbon; and his stepson and his wife, Michael and Frances McEachern. He is also survived by ten grandchildren.
Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at the Wood Funeral Home, 16 Main Street, Branchville, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church in Sandyston Township. Visitation and Firemen's Services were held Friday at the Wood Funeral Home, 16 Main Street, Branchville. In lieu of flowers, donations in Steven's name may be made to the Frankford Fire Department, PO Box 419, Augusta, NJ 07822.
