Claire M. Zinner

SALEM – Claire M. (Fitzgerald) Zinner, 92, of Salem, formerly of Lynn and Peabody, beloved wife of the late Robert Zinner, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 20th, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born and raised in Lynn, Claire was the daughter of the late Michael and Catherine (Coleman) Fitzgerald. She graduated from St. Mary's School in Lynn, class of 1950.
In 1951, Claire married the love of her life, Robert, and together they created a home filled with love and laughter, welcoming two precious daughters, Cathy and Carolyn. Professionally, Claire dedicated many years of service as a clerk to the credit bureau in Salem and Eastern Bank, from which she retired in 1997.
Claire was an active member of St. James Church, where she shared her beautiful voice as a member of the choir, volunteered during bingo events, and taught Sunday school. Her catholic faith was part of her everyday life and was often known to refer to scripture to guide not only herself but loved ones through times of adversity.
She had a vivacious personality and was full of wit and grace. She had a way of making people feel special, always offering a listening ear, thoughtful advice, and an open heart.
Proud of her Irish heritage, Claire was known to celebrate at family gatherings by singing traditional Irish songs and every Christmas Eve was spent gathered around the tree with her family singing Christmas carols. She had a natural talent for music, not only lending her voice but also playing the piano to bring joy to those around her. Claire lived a life rich in love, music, and devotion to her family. Claire was a vibrant spirit who loved deeply and gave freely; her warmth and sense of fun touched all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Claire is survived by her cherished daughters, Cathy Jennings and her husband, William of Salem, Carolyn Zinner of Salem, her adored granddaughters, Victoria and Brittany Jennings and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert Zinner, her sister, Gloria Fitzgerald Gill, and her brother, Joseph Fitzgerald.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend Claire's Funeral Service which will be held at O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) SALEM on Friday, January 24th at 1 PM. Visiting hours prior to the service from 11 AM to 1 P.M. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, 134 Broadway, Lynn.
