Susan Rooney Peach
Morristown - Passed away on Thursday, November 30th after a long illness. She was 90 years old. She was born in Morristown's Little Dublin section to John Rooney and Susan Coyle Rooney.
She graduated from Morristown High School, Montclair State Teachers College and later received her Master's Degree in Education from Rutgers College. She taught Fifth grade math for the Chatham Township School District before starting her family. Later she became part owner of R.P.Smith & Son, Inc., the family business in Succasunna, NJ.
She met her husband and love of her life, Jerome Peach, while they were both students at Morristown High School. They married at the Assumption Church in Morristown and moved to Morris Township to a new home that Jerome had built for them. After raising their family, Jerome and Susan moved from Morris Township to their new home in Chester Township, where she spent her final years.
Susan was a member of St. Margaret's of Scotland Church in Morristown where she was a member of the parish committee and taught CCD for many years. After moving to Chester she belonged to St. Joseph's Church in Mendham, where she participated in many charitable events.
Susan loved her home in Chester Township as well as her home on Long Beach Island. She loved her time down the shore. She spent many summers there walking, riding her bike and just enjoying the ocean. She was well known for her love of animals, her passion for reading, her famous chocolate chip cookies and for the parties she threw. She was responsible for getting the large extended family together at least twice a year.
She is predeceased by her husband, Jerome G. Peach, her siblings, Mary Samuelsen, Rosaline Peach & Michael Rooney, and her son-in-law Robert Siss.
She is survived by her loving children, Martha Peach of Morristown, Susan Peach of Lebanon and Randall and his wife Jennifer Peach of Whitehouse Station, her grandchildren, Marshall, Maxine, Justin, Sophie and Madeline. She is also survived by her best friends Arne and Margaret (Peggy) Samuelsen, her cousins from the Everitt and Rooney families as well as her good friends Janet Swenson and Dina Dillenkofer. She also leaves behind her brother-in-law Bernard Peach, and her sisters-in-law Edith Austin and Rosemarie Peach as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins from the extended Peach family.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation on Thursday, December 7 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Doyle Funeral Home, 106 Maple Avenue, Morristown. Funeral Services will be Friday, December 8 at 10:00 A.M. at The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 91 Maple Avenue, Morristown.
