Murl W. Canterberry

1928 - 2023

Murl Wayne Canterberry passed peacefully in his sleep on April 30, 2023 to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after a long and well-lived life.

Murl was born December 31, 1928, the second of six children born to Jessie and Richard Canterberry, in Gotebo, Oklahoma. The depression years were difficult ones for the family. Their struggles together formed much of Murl's character and direction for the rest of his life. He was a thrifty, hardworking, practical man who maintained a strong connection to his faith. He was also determined to create a better life for his family in all ways. Greater opportunities for the enjoyment of the good things of life were important to him, but his higher value was on a place for all in his family to be truly loved and cared for.

Murl met the future love of his life, Theola, in high school in Hammon, Oklahoma. They married in 1948, beginning their 67 years of devotion to one another, ending with Theola's passing June 22, 2016.

Murl and Theola are survived by their three children, Ross Canterberry, Kathy Tobin and husband Steve, and Roger Canterberry and wife Patti. He was always proud of his children, as well as his six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Murl's family is grateful for the attentive and loving care received during his last days at Meadows Place.

A celebration of his admirable life will be held at the Church of Christ, 408 S Maple in Ellensburg at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday June 3, 2023.
