A proud member of the "Greatest Generation", Pegge Allen Richards, was born on January 6, 1925 and died on December 31, 2024, shortly before her 100th birthday. Her life was dedicated to having fun and as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she did just that. Let's concentrate on those good times. Born in Ellensburg, Pegge attended local schools, graduating in 1942...non-ending class reunions and life-long friends. Moving to Seattle to work at Boeing and marrying Frank Richards in 1949, meant being introduced to U of W Husky football. Meet Pegge, the forever Husky fan, who dressed in purple and gold on game day, raised the Husky flag and sang "Bow Down to Washington"...she could be embarrassing.
Pegge and Frank raised three sons, Craig, Joe and John who remained in Seattle as U of W students. After Frank's death, Pegge witnessed her sons' successful careers as owners of clothing stores and as a lawyer. As Pegge aged, she decided to move to Ellensburg to be near her sister Jimmy and her nieces Mary and Susan. And so began a 20 year family connection. She loved going to Legends Casino, to restaurants, and to family gatherings where she would usually be the center of attention...cheating at playing darts, playing Scrabble, supervising barbecues (no one ever got the steak rare enough) and choosing another drink instead of dessert. She celebrated every birthday and never forgot to reminisce about the wonderful past...the choice Husky season tickets, the classmates from the 40's, the family get togethers and beating everyone at Scrabble.
Pegge was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Frank Richards, her mother, Syble, and her stepfather, Chet St. John, and siblings Jack Allen, Alpha Rossetti, L.D. Allen, and Frank Allen.
Pegge's three sons survive her, as well as her grandchildren, Spencer, Sam and Mack (Craig and Irma); Dylan (Joe); Frank and Ruby (John and Bethany). Her Ellensburg family include her sister Jimmy Johnson (Barry) and her niece Julie, nephews Joe and Mike, nieces Mary Hagemeier (Bob) and Susan Kelleher, and many great nieces and nephews.
No local service is planned. Burial will be at Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Bellevue, Washington. If you knew Pegge, please give a listen to Glenn Miller or Frank Sinatra.
