Ruby Pearl Harris (Hartill) 1933-2015
Ruby Harris 81 previously of Kittitas, WA died February 20, 2015 at the Bee Hive Memory Care Facility in Louisville, KY.
Ruby was one of 11 children born to Walter J. and Myrtle May Hartill in Chewelah, WA on March 30, 1933.
Ruby met the love of her life Jake Harris, whom she married on April 28, 1950. After moving from Chewelah they went onto Kellogg, Idaho before moving to Ellensburg, WA in 1960. Ruby worked as a waitress, and as a Nurses Aide at KVC Hospital before spending 23 years at Central Washington Universality as a custodial supervisor. After retiring Ruby remained active by working part-time as a hostess for the Copper Kettle Restaurant before transitioning into full retirement where she enjoyed fishing with Jake, gardening, canning, cooking, hospitality as well as the extra time for her family.
Ruby was a very devoted wife; daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who had a heart for caregiving, church, children, hospitality, and laughter. Besides her family, Ruby's pride and joy were her flowers and yard.
Ruby was instrumental in starting a children's ministry in Kellogg, ID as well as in The Kittitas Assembly of God Church. In later years Jake joined her as they carried on the ministry of children for several years. They were always available to help out in their church where ever they were needed.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Jake, father Walter J. Hartill, mother May Hartill, sisters; Minnie Holford, Theresa Citi, Lilly Greer, Marie Ray, brothers; William, Percy, & Eugene Hartill. Ruby is survived by her three children Ron Harris of Ellensburg, Carol (Gary) Cummings of Elizabeth, IN and Melody (Monte) Harris - DeCottle, Auburn, WA, 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, brother Walter Hartill Jr. of Lebanon, MO, and sisters Mary Gunn of Spokane, WA and May Hancock of Wickenberg, AZ.
Ruby, you have been set free and will be greatly missed here on earth, but God is getting a beautiful angel.
A celebration of Ruby's life will be held on March 21st at 2:00 p.m. at the New Life Assembly Church 212 N. Main Street, Kittitas, WA 98934
