Thomas Peischl Obituary

Thomas Peischl
Thomas Michael Peischl, 77, died at home surrounded by loved ones on December 17, 2020, after a short battle with cancer. He was born March 8, 1943, in Easton, Pennsylvania, the son of Margaret (Eyer) Peischl and Frank Peischl.
Tom was orphaned at age 6 and grew up at The Lutheran Home in Topton, PA. While there he developed a strong work ethic that carried with him through his life. He graduated from Brandywine Heights High School in Topton, PA in 1961, and attended Susquehanna University where he graduated with a B.A. in 1965. Additional graduate degrees included a M.A. in Special Education, a M.A. in Librarianship, and a D.ED. in Higher Education Administration. Tom's chosen occupation was in library and academic administration and computer services. He finished his career as Dean of Library Services at Central Washington University and retired in Ellensburg in 2009.
He met Trudy, his wife of 54 years, at Susquehanna University. They were married in 1966 in Moorestown, New Jersey and they enjoyed their lives, multiple moves and raising their children together. In 1968 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he studied the Arabic language in the Security Service. The highlight of his tour was the 27 months spent in Athens, Greece.
One of Tom's passions was playing golf, and this past summer he had his best season yet. Another source of joy was the training and companionship of the family dogs. Along with Trudy, who co-founded Northcentral Maltese Rescue, Inc., he helped with fostering, transporting, and loving of many rescue dogs that came into their home. Following his retirement, he and Trudy traveled extensively. Tom was also very involved in the community as a volunteer, especially as an IRS Tax Aide and a Kittitas County SHIBA Medicare Specialist. His wit and ready smile were part of his personality that people loved.
Tom is survived by his wife Trudy, son Jeffrey, daughter Terri, grandson Wilson, brothers Robert and Victor Peischl, and sister Annette (Peischl) Winterhalt. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Richard.
According to his wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial services. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions with your name and address be sent to: Northcentral Maltese Rescue, Inc., c/o Mary Palmer, President, 5311 Douglas Ave. #120 Racine, WI 53402.
