To my Family:
The backbone of our family has left us for awhile, but memories of her beautiful smile will always be in our hearts. She taught all of us the importance of prayers, mass attentance, and most of all helping your family & friends. Being there for your family. Your face in the place means a lot to your family when your family needs you. So, my family I know it is hard because she is gone. She has blessed all of us in a very special way. Again, my cousins, my condolences goes out to each and every one of you.

Ms. Barbara was always a will worker. She willing worker, she will certainly be missed; but we know that "death has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal..."

My condolences for your loss. May you find comfort, from family, friends and the God of all comfort. "He is giving support to all who are falling and is raising up all who are bowed down" (Psalm 145:14) He will sustain you until that day that he will swallow up death forever.

After evacuating from Hurricane Katrina to Opelousas Barbara was one of the few that invited to her home, life and family. We remained friends since. She will be sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers to her family.

I was deeply saddened by the news of Mrs. Barbara passing. My heartfelt condolences to her family.
Mrs. Barbara was like a 2nd mother to kids after school that did not live close to Washington High School. I played basketball/track and lived in Garland/Beggs (about 10-15) miles from Washington High School. She let us stay at her house before games, after games and after practices until our parents could pick us up from her safe-house. She had the same rules as my parents so she did not have to say much for us to know she meant business. Back in the day…kids were more afraid of their parent's wrath than anyone else. She always had an open door. She even let me stay at her house after school when she was not there. At the time I was thankful but not as appreciative as my parents. It was not until I became a parent with kids in sports that I realized just what she had done not only my parents but for me. I probably would not have been able to participate in all the sports (which later rewarded me with a full scholarship to college in track and field) as I was able to participate in without her support.
A few years ago I called her and thanked her for all that she had done for my parents and me. She helped to support the village and her hospitality and willingness to help kids will always be remembered.
Again, my heartfelt condolences to her family.
