Edna Plattsmier Obituary

Funeral services for Edna Gossen Plattsmier, age 85, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 2, 2010, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington. Interment will follow in the Cedar Hill Mausoleum.
Father Albert Nunez will celebrate the Mass. Music selected will be played by Sharee Hunter, accompanied by Karl Reiners.
Edna passed away at Opelousas General Health System on Monday, November 29, 2010. Edna was a member of St. Mary Altar Society, Rayne Catholic Daughters of America, avid gardener having received numerous Garden of the Month awards.
Edna is survived by her two sons; Winn Plattsmier, and his wife, Norma of Washington, LA., and John Plattsmier and his wife Liz, of Broomfield, Colorado, three daughters; Anne P. Jones and her husband, Curry of Washington, LA, Joan P. Dawson and her husband, John of Knoxville, Tenn, and Faye P. Starks and her husband, David of Central, LA. her sisters; Antoinette Puissegur of Crowley, Helen Arsement of Rayne, Lucille Reiners of Opelousas, and Catherine Cramer of Opelousas, her brother; Raymond Gossen of Rayne, her ten grandchildren; Catherine Joy Jones of Houston TX, Lynn Jones Sharon and her husband, Paul of Prairieville, LA, Michael T. Jones of Bloomington, IN, Gregory B. Jones of New Orleans, LA, Sarah Madalene Dawson of Knoxville, TN, Stephen Starks and his wife, Amie of Greenwell Springs, LA, Edie Starks Matos and her husband, Jose of Houston, TX, JoAnna Starks Danzy and her husband, Danny of Baton Rouge, LA, Anthony Plattsmier of Washington, LA, Lauren Plattsmier of Gonzales, LA, and two great-grandchildren; Nicholas Jones of Praireville, LA, and Collin Starks of Greenwell Springs, LA.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband Winfred Joseph "Buster" Plattsmier Jr. her parents; Nicholas Joseph and Marie Bollich Gossen, her brother; Robert Gossen.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, December 1, 2010, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. On Thursday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening in the funeral home.
