OPELOUSAS - A funeral service for Mr. Ferdie Jagneaux, will be held at (time pending) on Thursday, June 22, 2017, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Reverend James Brady will conduct the service. Burial will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Jagneaux, age 83, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2017, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy for 4 years as a 2nd class Petty Officer in the engine room during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a salesman for Dimmick Supply for many years before his retirement. Ferdie enjoyed showing off his competitive edge playing cards, pool, chest and yahtzee. He also liked spending time gardening and was a talented handyman fixing anything in reach. Ferdie loved vacationing and going on cruises with his wife whom he adored. He cherished the memories made on family gatherings with his daughter and her family. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by loving wife of 63 years, Mrs. Mildred Jagneaux; daughter, Kathy Snyder and husband, Junior; brother, Lawrence (Larry) Jagneaux, Jr.; sisters, Ruth Boudreaux and, Judy Poulet; grandchildren, John Snyder, Tyler Snyder and Katie Snyder; great-grandchildren, Jack Snyder, Drew Snyder, Luke Snyder, Pierce Snyder and, Bentley Snyder.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alceus and Elmire Olivier Jagneaux; brothers, Melvin, Ray and Marshall Jagneaux; sisters, Mabel Moreaux and Versie Schwartz.

The family requests visitation be held on Thursday, June 20, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the Sibille Funeral Home in Opelousas. A rosary will be prayed at 2:30 p.m.
