Gabriel Savoie Obituary
OPELOUSAS - Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA, for Mr. Gabriel Savoie, Sr., 79, who entered eternal rest, Monday, March 4, 2013 at Acadia - St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point, LA.
Interment will be in St. John Berchmans Catholic Cemetery in Cankton, LA. Rev. Msgr. Keith Joseph DeRouen will officiate at the Mass of Christian burial.
Mr. Savoie is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Mrs. Helena Francis Savoie of Opelousas, LA; three sons, Gabriel Savoie, Jr. (Janice) of Opelousas, LA and Robert Anthony Francis (Marlene) of Cecillia, LA and Roderick Garrick of S. Carolina; eight daughters, Mary Brenell LaDay, Barbara Bertrand (Malcolm), Tamara Savoie (Joseph), Tracey Taylor (David), Peggy Mouton (Byron) all of Opelousas, LA, Sandra Bernard of Lafayette, LA, Cecilia Johnson (Vincent) of Church Point, LA and Alice Johnson (Joseph) of Sunset, LA; a daughter-in-law, Sheila Savoie of Opelousas, LA; three sisters, Alice Morris of Houston, TX, Audrey Landry of Lawtell, LA and Alberta Jackson of Opelousas, LA; a special niece, Mary Madeline Taylor of Opelousas, LA; two special nephews, Joseph Green, Sr. and Aloysius Green both of Opelousas, LA; his best friend, Herbert Jenkins, Sr. of Opelousas, LA; and 35 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.
Mr. Savoie was preceded in death by his parents, Ignace Savoie & Cecilia Babineaux Savoie; three sons, John Kevin Savoie, Ron Christopher Savoie and Donald Ray Savoie, Sr.; four brothers, Burlin, Joseph, James and Pancratius Savoie; two sisters, Mildred Semien and Lee Audrey Beverly; two sons-in-law, Anthony LaDay and Anthony Bertrand.
Visiting hours will be observed from 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Williams Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA.
