ARNAUDVILLE - Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2011 at a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville for John B. Guidry, age 88, who passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at J. Michael Morrow Nursing Home in Arnaudville.

Interment will be in St. Francis Regis Catholic Cemetery in Arnaudville. The Rev. Keenan Brown, pastor of St. Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville, will officiate at the services. Readers will be Brenda Curtis and Tiffany Jagneaux. Eulogist will be Tom Courville. Giftbearers will be Morgan Curtis, Andrew Curtis and Spencer Jagneaux.

Musical selections will be provided by Debbie Richard and will be accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ. The songs will be Battle Hymn of the Republic, I'll See You In Heaven One Day, Azalea, May Your Angels Be Your Guide, Be Not Afraid and Amazing Grace.

Mr. Guidry was a native and lifelong resident of Arnaudville. He was a dredge boat worker and a farmer. Mr. Guidry was a veteran of the military having served in the U.S Army during World War II. He was a member of the VFW Post # 5153. He was a parishioner of St. Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville.

Survivors include his wife the former Laurence Credeur Guidry, of Arnaudville; five sons, Roy Guidry and his wife, Mona, of Arnaudville, Douglas Guidry and David Guidry of Kansas and Donald Guidry of Pineville; two step-sons, Tom Courville and his wife, Mary, and Jeff Courville and his wife, Martha, all of Lafayette; five daughters, Rose Stoute and her husband, Noah, Marie Stelly and her husband, LeeRoy Sr., Linda Quebedeaux and her husband, Ronald, all of Arnaudville, Elsie Leger and her husband, Erick, of Sunset and Lisa Guidry of MN; one step-daughter, Shirley Bourque and her husband, Ted, of Lafayette; fourteen grandchildren; twenty seven great grandchildren; and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Knott Guidry; his parents, Stanville Guidry and the former Marie Noel, both natives of Arnaudville; one son, Larry Guidry; four brothers; and five sisters.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. Friday and will continue from 7:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday.

Pallbearers will be Roy Guidry, Noah Stoute, Weylin Quebedeaux, Lee Stelly, Jr., Jason Guidry and Kevin Kidder. Honorary pallbearers will be Douglas Guidry, David Guidry, Tech SGT Ronnie Guidry, Tech SGT Travis Stoute, Tyson Guidry and Evan Quebedeaux.
