Cypermort, LA - Cypermort Point--A private graveside service was held for Dr. Joseph Peter Martinez, III on Monday, October 23, 2017, in New Iberia, Louisiana.
Dr. Martinez passed away onTuesday, October 17, 2017 at 9:15 AM at a local healthcare facility in New Iberia, Louisiana.
Dr. Martinez graduated from Jesuit High School in New Orleans, Loyola University and LSU Medical School in 1951. He entered the United States Air Force and became a flight surgeonduring the Korean War. After being discharged from the Air Force, he completed his residency and opened The Women's Clinic where he practiced as an OB/GYN in Opelousas, Louisiana from 1958 until his retirement in 1990. He then resided in Cypremort Point where he was an active member of the Cypremort Point Yacht Club where he enjoyed boating and fishing.
He is survived by: Marie Dupre and husband Reggie, Judy Jenkins and husband Ronny, Joseph P. Martinez, IV, Beverly Martinez and husband David Voloto, Paula Mills and husband Mike, fifteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Noreen Martinez, sons Kenneth Martinez and John Paul Martinez; sisters Doris Martinez, Marjorie Tanner and Beverly Martinez; brother Paul Martinez and parents Dr. JP Martinez, II and Marjorie Scherer Martinez Lowe.

I am so sorry for your loss. Uncle Joe was my mother Marjory Martinez Tanner and my Aunt Doris R. Martinenez brother. They always talked highly of their brother.
