Joseph Lamusga Obituary

A celebration of life will take place on Friday, April 26, 2024, at the Browerville Community Center on April 26, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, followed by a grave side service at the Christ the King Catholic Cemetery in Browerville.

On February 16, 1951, Joseph Frank Lamusga was born one of five children to Jerome and Dorothy (Borgert) Lamusga of rural Browerville Minnesota. Joe graduated from Browerville High School and attended Staples Technical College for Farm Machinery Mechanics. On October 30, 1976, Joe married the love of his life, Mary Mensen. The couple lived in the Twin Cities where Joe worked at Tolerance Master's as a machinist for six years. After starting a family, Joe and Mary decided to move back to the family farm and partner with his brother Bob. Joe always said the best place to raise kids was on the farm. Over the years, Joe and Mary were blessed with five children: Jacqueline, Jason, Gregory, Ryan, and Brad. His greatest passion was farming. He had a knack for fixing things or creating something to "make it work". Joe worked hard and was ambitious to make a better life for his kids. His strong-willed personality helped him make the farm successful. Joe loved to hunt and had probably hunted every kind of animal native to Minnesota. Hunting became a family affair, and he was very proud to see his grandchildren start. As he aged, Joe picked up hobbies like making wine (veno), maple syrup making or telling one of his many stories. His teasing personality came out to the fullest when he became a grandpa. He had close relationships with each grandchild, giving them all nicknames, to go with the memories they made. Papa always enjoyed his hugs and kisses but especially loved sharing his "pop-pop" with the grandkids.

Joe and Mary enjoyed the life that the farm provided. In retirement they made memories camping during the summer months with the kids and traveling to different casinos with friends. When the weather got cold, they traveled down to Tennessee to visit his sister, Mississippi to get fresh shrimp, Texas to gather buckets of pecans and Arizona for the fresh dry air. Throughout the years Joe was always engaged in his children and grandchildren's lives. He did not ask for much and enjoyed the simple life having his family as his pride and joy.

On November 26, 2023, Joseph took his last breath here on earth. After the last couple years of serious health struggles, he would die at 72 after a short battle with cancer. He leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Mary; children, Jacqui (Jay) Dahms, Jason Lamusga, Ryan Lamusga, and Brad (Susanna) Lamusga; grandchildren, Brayden, Hailee, Brooklyn, Madison, Harrison, MaryGayle, Weston and Renee; siblings, Julie (John) Kleinschmidt, Bob Lamusga and Patrick (Lynn) Lamusga; sister-in-law, Nancy Lamusga; Uncle, Edward Lamusga; Aunt, Mary Poveda; many friends and acquaintances along the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome and Dorothy Lamusga; son, Gregory Lamusga; brother, Dick Lamusga; many other uncles, aunts, and friends. Arrangements are with the Iten Funeral Home of Browerville.
