Andrew Schlater Obituary

Andrew Francis Schlater, a resident of Rowayton, died on Sunday, July 31, in Norwalk Born on June 10, 1989 in Stamford, he was the son of Frank and Nancy Schlater He was a graduate of The Eagle Hill School in Hardwick, Massachusetts He was 27

Born and raised in Rowayton, Mr Schlater worked for several local businesses including Rowayton Pizza, Rowayton Market and the WinePort of Darien He also worked for Reynolds' Farms and Gilbertie's Nurseries where he developed his passion for organic gardening growing unusual and heirloom tomatoes

Mr Schlater was a good friend and student of Nick Mancini, lecturer and author of The Complete Organic Garden He enjoyed sharing his knowledge and passion for organic gardening with his family and friends who benefitted from his delicious tomato harvests

Mr Schlater is survived by his proud and loving parents, Frank and Nancy, brother Alex and his maternal grandmother Patricia Koch of Elmhurst, Illinois He is also survived by his many beloved and loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will gather together to celebrate his life

The family will receive friends at the United Church of Rowayton, 210 Rowayton Avenue, Rowayton on Friday, Aug 5,  from 1:00 to 3:00 PM A Funeral Service will follow at 3:00 PM with Pastor Karen Eiler of the Rowayton United Methodist Church with a reception to follow Interment will be private

Mr Schlater gave the ultimate gift of life by donating his organs through the New England Organ Bank
