Barbara Boyle Obituary

Barbara Boyle
Barbara Ann Boyle, 85, passed peacefully to be with God on February 9th at home with her husband of 67 years by her side. Barbara was born in Ridgefield, CT on July 22,1937, the daughter of Fredrick and Jean Conti. As a young girl, she moved to Greenwich, CT where she met her future husband, and love of her life, Gerry Boyle. They were married at St. Mary's R.C. Church in Greenwich, CT before moving to El Paso, TX for Gerry's service in the US Army. During that time, Barbara worked as a secretary for the El Paso Fire Department. Upon returning to Greenwich with their newborn son, she worked as an administrative secretary for AMF Engineering Division. Barbara and Gerry moved to Cos Cob, CT in 1969, where the couple raised their three children, Robert, Lisa, and Kathleen.
Barbara attended Resurrection Catholic High School in Rye, NY, furthering her education at the Berkeley Secretarial School in White Plains, NY. Barbara's skills and intellect propelled her to the position of legal secretary for the Greenwich law firm of Ivey, Barnum, Omar, and Nickerson where she was Lowell Weicker's Legal Secretary who would become Senator and the 85th Governor of Connecticut. Barbara moved into real estate in 1980, becoming a top-producing agent for firms Country Living and Coldwell Banker. She remained active in real estate, renewing her license in her eighties. Through Gerry's career in the Industrial Diamond Industry Barbara discovered her love of travel and adventure; visiting, exploring, and making memories together in over 65 countries.
Barbara cherished her Catholic faith and was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary's with tenure at St. Catherine's and St. Agnes. She was active in the St. Mary's Ladies Guild and traveled to Rome, Italy with the St. Mary's choir. Barbara was a member of the Greenwich Garden Club, served as a volunteer at the Greenwich Botanical Center in Montgomery Pinetum Park, and studied flower arranging in Greenwich, Connecticut and London, England. As a granddaughter of Italian immigrants, Barbara was a woman of many talents. Cooking, gardening, and entertaining came naturally. Rarely without a paint brush, a sanding tool, or a bucket of wallpaper paste in her hand, her skill in home renovation and design led to a successful specialty renovations business. Most importantly, her world revolved around family and friends. Her last outing was a joyous celebration of the welcoming of her great-grandson Lucius. Barbara's doors were always open. People of all ages felt welcomed, valued, and cared for by her generosity, kindness, humor, and love. She was the life and creator of many celebrations.
Barbara is survived by her husband Gerald Boyle, her children Robert Boyle (Helen), Lisa Boyle Caso (Greg), Kathleen Boyle Arrix (Tom), her grandchildren Mary Elizabeth Boyle Cisa (Will), William Boyle (Pierre), Henry Boyle, Scott Caso, Sarah Caso, Sam Arrix, Annie Arrix, Kit Arrix, Thomas Arrix, her great-grandson Lucius, her siblings, Fred Conti, Gene Conti, Maura Conti Lanzarone (Frank), and her many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Words cannot express our gratitude to all who loved and cared for Barbara Boyle. Barbara taught us all how to live a life of faith, purpose, and joy.
Our sincere appreciation and gratitude to her wonderful team of doctors Walsh, Greenberg, Woodbury, Cantor, McLeod, caregiver Lisa Boyle Caso, Julie Boyle, the wonderful team of IDAP nurses at Greenwich Hospital and her caring visiting nurse Colleen O'Brien.

To Boyle and Conti Families,
We were out of the state when we learned of Barbara´s passing and sadly were unable to attend funeral services. Such a beautiful, vibrant and funny lady, we loved hearing her stories of the extended family through the years and her love of her immediate family and zest for life. She was a real trooper and will be missed.
In love and sympathy,
Norene (Zandri) and Arnold Foster
