Christopher Mark Smith, 67, of Youngsville, NC, passed peacefully on September 21st, 2025.
Chris was born July 21, 1958 in Paterson, NJ to Barbara and Donald Smith. He was a 1976 graduate of Darien High School and received a BS in Engineering Technology at Clemson University, class of 1980.
He worked in Systems Engineering in the Maryland/DC area for multiple firms.
In 2009, Chris began his 15 year tenure as an invaluable asset with Johns Hopkins APL where he held many technical, managerial and leadership roles.
Chris was also skilled in real estate investing and home renovation. He was a passionate, accomplished amateur radio operator for 40+ years. He made contacts all over the U.S. and many overseas. Known by friends and family as a master "Mr. Fix-It", Chris was an expert clock and radio enthusiast and repairman. In 2023, Chris found a loving community and renewed faith as a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, NC.
Christopher is survived by his daughter Audrey Smith of Youngville, NC, his brother, Donald Smith Jr. and sister-in-law Ann Goodman of Wilmette, IL, his former wife, Tina Smith of Columbia, MD, 4 nephews and a niece. He will be remembered fondly for his kindness, insatiable curiosity, and sense of humor by his family and friends.
