Mary Renehan Wrightson (May 5, 1928-January 22, 2017)
Mary Renehan Wrightson (89), a longtime resident of Darien, CT, Chattanooga, TN and Walpole, NH, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2018
Mary, the daughter of the late Dr Laurence Arthur Renehan and Helen Murphy Renehan, was born May 5, 1928 in Greenwich and was raised in Darien with her two brothers and sister She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Stamford, CT and from Mount Aloysius College in Cresson, PA
She lived in Darien until 1962 when she and her husband John and their two daughters Meg and Betsy relocated to Chattanooga to establish Heritage Quilts, a textile manufacturing company After thirteen wonderful years in Tennessee, the family settled back in Darien for ten years before John and Mary retired to Walpole, NH
Mary was a gracious woman, a tireless volunteer and a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother She hosted many memorable New Hampshire vacations, both winter and summer, for her family, her granddaughters and many of their friends Mary cherished her years in Walpole where she was an active member of the Women of Walpole, the Walpole Historic Society, the Thorne-Sagendorph Art Gallery and the Keene State College-Gallery She was also a former member of the Junior Leagues of Darien and Chattanooga and the Tokeneke Club
Mary was predeceased by her husband John C Wrightson, her sister Elizabeth (Betty) Meurs, and her brothers Arthur and William (Stan) Renehan
She is survived by her daughters Margaret Wrightson Lane and her husband Ted Lane of New Canaan and Elizabeth Laurence Wrightson of Atlanta, by her granddaughters Elizabeth Lane Parks and her husband Gavin of Darien, Sarah Chaffe Lane of Fairfield and by two great-grandchildren, Berkley and Nate Parks of Darien
Funeral services will be private The family wishes to express its gratitude for the loving care and compassion provided by the nurses and staff at The Jewish Home for the Elderly and by the Chaifetz Family Hospice
