Ursula Luther Obituary

Ursula Luther
Ursula Luther passed away peacefully at home in Darien, Connecticut, on August 6, 2024, after a long battle with breast cancer.
She was born on October 3, 1939, in Heilbronn, Germany. At the young age of 20, Ursula immigrated to America to follow the love of her life, Alfred. The couple settled in Darien to raise their three children: Christopher, Kristina "Tina," and Nicole. She lived in Darien for 60 years, and later with her daughter Nicole and her grandchildren Liam and Colin.
For most of her life, Ursula cultivated a deep love for music. She was an avid alto singer and committed her time to various performance groups. Her voice and presence had a lasting impact on many community choirs, such as the Zion Lutheran Church in Stamford, the Norwalk Quartet Club, and the Westchester Oratorio Society with Harold Rosenbaum. Ursula's love for singing carried her throughout her life and brought joy to many people the world over. She traveled internationally to participate in singing competitions and exhibitions and once graced the stage of Carnegie Hall.
Ursula maintained a strong connection to her German roots in Heilbronn. She visited Germany every summer with her family, where her children bonded with their cousins. While Germany was far away, it was never far from Ursula's home or her kitchen. Ursula's legendary potato salad impressed the taste buds of Germans and Americans alike and was a staple at every church Oktoberfest.
In Germany, Ursula earned a degree in banking and utilized her skills in finance and accounting throughout her career. She held various positions, most notably at Cardiology Associates of Fairfield County, where she worked for over 35 years before retiring at the young age of 83.
Ursula's warmth, kindness, and unwavering strength left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She faced her illness with remarkable courage and bravery. Her unyielding spirit was an inspiration to family and friends. Even on bad days, she refused to let her illness get in the way of the things she loved. Through it all, you would find her enjoying time with her family over a game of cards and attending church every Sunday morning.
She is survived by her three children: Christopher Luther (Nancy), Kristina "Tina" Bangemann (Tom), and Nicole Casey (Richard). Ursula adored her grandchildren: Klaus Luther (Patricia), Barbara Luther (John), Russell, Ben, Finn, Liam, and Colin. She was blessed with one great-grandchild, William "Illy," who brightened her days. Ursula's host of family and friends will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
There will be a memorial service to celebrate Ursula's life on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at First Congregational Church in Darien, Connecticut at 11 a.m. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall after the service. If you are unable to join us in person, please use this link to view the service: https://events.locallive.tv/events/152069 The service will be available to view at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Stamford Hospital Association Foundation (www.stamfordhospitalfoundation.org) in Ursula's name to continue the fight against breast cancer.

Fate sent me into a deep sleep. I am not dead, I just changed rooms. I live in you, I go into your dreams, since we, who are united, have been transformed.
You think I am dead, but to console the world, I live with a thousand souls there,
in this wonderful place, in the hearts of loved ones. No, I did not go away, immortality redeemed me from death.

Please accept my deepest sympathy on the passing of this
extraordinary person who was wise well beyond her time with
all of you.
I agree with the previous post...
The quote at the end of her
Legacy was especially poignant.
May Ursula rest in everlasting
peace.
Sincerely,
