Family-Placed Obituary

HARMON, Alice B., (nee Speer) age 92 of Moraine, passed away, Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at her residence. She was born Feb. 8, 1912 in Broken Bow, NE, the daughter of the late Newton & Mary (Waters) Speer She attended the W. Carrollton Assembly of God Church for many years; her faith in Jesus Christ was a strength to many. Alice was a professional cook at the Arrow Hotel in Broken Bow, NE, Showalter's in W. Carrollton and the Stagecoach Restaurant in Centerville. Friends and family remember the many, many home cooked meals prepared and served in her home, especially her chicken and noodles and cinnamon rolls. Preceded in death by her husband Clarence C. Harmon, 2 daughters infant Virginia, and Martha Plummer, and her son-in-law Robert Plummer. Survived by 2 daughters Elsie Applegarth and husband Bud of MA, Betty Richards and husband Gary of Moraine, 5 sons Clifford and wife Ruth of Miamisburg, Roy and wife Judy of W. Carrollton, Marvin and wife Maryann of Eaton, Donald and wife Barb of Centerville, and Ronald and wife Judy of Middletown, 20 grandchildren Carol, Lisa, Judi, Debra, Connie, Pamela, Michael, Donald, Keith, Dawn, Shelby, Terri, Gina, Rhonda, Kimberly, Kristen, Amanda, Ryan, Stephanie, and Buffy, 41 great grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. One of Alice's favorite past times was playing Upwards and Scrabble with her family. With the support of an incredible and loving staff of Hospice Nurses, Alice spent her final days in her home surrounded by her children, their spouses, grandchildren, great grandchildren and other family members. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, December 3, 2004 at 12 noon from the SWART FUNERAL HOME, W. Carrollton. Rev. Bart Ellis and Rev. Keith Applegarth officiating. Burial will follow at the Miami Valley Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions if desired may be made to Hospice of Dayton in Alice's memory.

Grandma was a great Lady She loved to cook and have Sunday dinners even though she grumbled about it , As a kid growing up, I spent a lot of summers with Grandma, she would take me to the Stagecoach resturant with here to work, I have alot of great memories with Her and my Grandpa, I know she is in Heaven and I will be with her someday, Love Pamela Brown
