Rev. Alonzo Patterson Jr.

News Death Notice

PATTERSON JR., Rev. Alonzo was born on April 18, 1937 in Tuskegee, AL and passed away on February 7, 2011 in Houston, TX and laid to rest at the Houston National Cemetery February 15, 2011 after a lengthy illness. Alonzo was preceded in death by his loving parents, Alonzo Sr. and Leaster "Nug" Patterson who reared him in Richmond, IN. After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corp, he was a dedicated U.S. Postal Service employee for 28 years in Richmond and Dayton, Ohio. He was a licensed barber, opened his first Hair Kapitol barber shop in Dayton in 1986 and a second shop in Houston in 2009. He was a radiology tech nearly 40 years retiring from Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital due to illness. A strong believer in Christ he answered his call to ministry at the New Life Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, TX and served on the Deacon Board. Rev. Alonzo "June Pat" leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Joyce; sons, Dr. Alonzo Patterson, III (Clarissa) Dayton, Ohio and Mannin D, Patterson, Houston, TX; siblings, Etta J. Lundy, Charles E. Patterson (Vera) Evelyn J. Sellers, Barbara Ann Armstead (Earby) all of Richmond and Mary Louise Prince (Charlie) Granville, Ohio; five grandchildren, four step children; a host a nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and one Aunt, Mrs. Alberta Williams. The family welcomes everyone to celebrate his life at a Memorial Service on March 12, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 1108 North 'H' Street, Richmond, IN 47374, Pastor Earnest Randle, Officiating
