OSSO II, Anthony "Chuck"

Anthony "Chuck" Osso II has taken his final ride. He loved life and lived it on his terms, with a kind and generous spirit and one wicked sense of humor, known for practical jokes, especially on family. His favorite nephew (of course his only nephew!) and he could not have been more different; him being the jock and his nephew being the nerd, but their love for each other was solid and evident to all. There were many things about him that drove some of his family and friends bonkers, mostly due to his stubborn Italian hardheadedness, making his sister wonder how the hell they both came from the same parents. Chuck was part of Coach Malone's dream team at Badin High School, graduating in '69. He served his country proudly in the Air Force both in this country and abroad during the Vietnam era, though he saw no combat. He carried his patriotism on his sleeve – literally – his arms were emblazoned with tattoos showing patriotic scenes and sayings, not to mention the Rolling Stones tattoo on his leg. Late in life he found the love of his life. Though he would never admit it was love, all those around him knew that it was. He had a deep love for his Harley and rode it to all 48 contiguous states never knowing a stranger because of that motorcycle and who he was, building a community of friends that were his second family. Some of you reading this may only know him from his ball sales (he sold golf balls at the corner of Mack and old Winton Road for years) meticulously cleaning them, sorting them and enjoying the people he met through selling his balls. To celebrate his life, he leaves behind his favorite sister (again his only one), Tina, his favorite nephew, Monjoni, his significant other, Natalee, a whole raft of southern cousins and hundreds of friends. Colligan Funeral home will help him complete his final ride, with a celebration of his life to happen once this damned virus, that took him way too soon, is under control and we can gather with stories, laughter and hugs with the Stones blaring. He said he wanted only these words in his obituary: "Born October 30, 1950, died December 17, 2020, and in between, it was one hell of a ride." But being his ever loving and favorite sister, I'm glad that finally, I get the last words: "We are all truly thankful that we got to take this incredible ride with you Bro, give mom and dad a hug for me... see you on the other side."
