Anthony had a servants heart. I met him while he was working as a janitor on base. My husband was quite ill in 2006 with a ruptured appendix that was misdiagnosed.
Anthony was working (doing the Lord´s work) pushing a broom and came up and greeted me with "Hello my friend." He could tell I was praying and concerned. He stopped and prayed with me and for my husband who was behind a door having a medical procedure done. Some things went wrong that day with the procedure. As the days passed while I am on base visited my husband I kept running into Anthony.
I told Anthony this was divine appointments and not a coincidence our paths kept crossing one another and God had a bigger plan and asked if we could exchange phone numbers and stay in touch. He said yes.
We stayed connected and one day I called him and told him God had him and his family on my heart and was everything okay. He said Lisa was not feeling well and asked me to pray for her. I did. Time passed and I didn´t hear from him. I called again and he was so excited and overjoyed and said "hello precious" Lisa is pregnant! I told him I´d be praying for Lisa and his son.
Long before Immanuel was born he said he and Lisa talked and asked if I would stand in the gap and be like a Grandma to Immanuel. I accepted that honor and that day Immanuel became my heart-tie grandson.
I could write a book of all the years in between then and now but I know Anthony loved his sons, both of them, Christopher and Immanuel.
He loved his family and friends. When I hear "hello my friend" or "hello precious" or see someone with dimples I can´t help but think of Anthony´s contagious smile and love for The Lord.
I loved him too.

I was privileged to meet Tony through Lisa, Sandra's closest friend.
Tony was very particular with his words, always pronouncing my name perfectly but with a slight linger.
He greeted me with a warm smile every time, as though we hadn't seen each other in years.
Tony's presence during praise and worship at church will be deeply missed.
He had a genuine spirit that would make even the saddest person smile.
To the family of Tony Vaughn, I pray that you find comfort in your happy memories of him.
Tony would want to see you all moving forward with joy rather than dwelling on his absence. Long live Tony!

I don't know what memory to even start at. I am just thankful that God allowed us to connect and cross paths at the time that we did and that you became a father figure for me at the time that I needed it the most. I thank you for taking me; a stranger at the time, into your home and allowing me to stay until I got on my feet. I thank you for all the lessons, the rebukes, the love and the wisdom you imparted into me throughout all the years. Your humor; LOL, definetly thank you for that lol! You were a father, a friend and will be deeply missed by all the lives you have impacted and touched! Today you are celebrated for the life you have lived well!
