Barton Weprin Obituary

WEPRIN, Barton (Z"L) Age 71, of Dayton, died on Tuesday, February 12, 2019. Bart was born July 5, 1947, to legendary parents Charles (Z"L) and Corrine "Pookie" (Z"L) Weprin whom he loved dearly. Bart was followed by three less good-looking brothers Stuart (Gail), Larry (Meryl), and Michael (Karen). Bart and his life-long best friend Larry Pollock graduated from Fairview High School in 1965. Bart received his bachelor's degree in business from Ohio State and earned a "masters" in being an Ohio State football fan. He served six years in the Air Force National Guard. Bart lived in Dayton where he became owner of Main Auto Parts and later built a successful real estate brokerage business known as Weprin Realty. He is a past president of the Ohio Commercial Real Estate Exchanges Association. Bart held Dayton Flyer basketball season tickets his entire adult life including a few seasons we would all rather forget. Bart had deep pride in his three brilliant children: Ben Weprin (Mary Ann) of Chicago, IL, and their gorgeous daughters, Elodie (9), Dalton (7), and Pepper (2); Andrew Weprin (Meredith) of Chicago, IL, and their beautiful daughters, Sonia (8), Aleeza (6), and handsome, athletic son, Charles (2); and Becky Dausen (Mark) of Columbus, OH and their amazing daughters, Naomi (5) and Eden (3). Bart was married to his loving and devoted wife Linda of 22 years, and cared for her children Danny Paxton of Cincinnati, OH and Melissa Morris (Kirk) of Oakwood, OH like they were his own. He had a close relationship with each of Melissa's children, Aidan (15), Austin (13), Brody (11), and Kate (7). All of Bart's grandchildren and many nieces and nephews enjoyed Bart's strong sense of family and humor including his iconic "Bart Man" dance move. He enjoyed playing tennis, fishing with his family, playing the piano, exercising, breakfast at the Golden Nugget Pancake House with his grandkids, and having lots of butter on his popcorn. Bart gave his best effort every day and faced all challenges bravely. Bart and his love of life will be deeply missed by all. Bart was proud of his life long association with Dayton's Temple Israel where he was a co-founder of Temple Israel's Annual Jewish Cultural Festival, proudly served as Temple Israel President, and spearheaded the Dayton Jewish Cemetery consolidation project. Funeral Services will be held at Temple Israel, 130 Riverside Drive, at 1pm on Thursday, February 14, 2019. Interment to follow at Riverview Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Jewish Cemeteries of Greater Dayton or Hospice of Dayton. Glickler Funeral Home handling arrangements.

The year is 2024. I feel compelled to state that Bart Weprin was a very kind person. He was my realtor. I did not know him enough personally to ethically be able to call him my friend. I deeply respected him. This is the first time I know about his passing. I wish to honor him and respect him. Mr. Weprin was a wonderful realtor. I simply want to honor him. I apologize that this message arrives late.

I knew Bart from his Real Estate career but knew that I could always contact him. I live in MD and was attempting to buy Bart’s properties however that didn’t happen. Even though Bart hasn’t seen our business financially fruitful he was always my go to in OH. I never knew that he was sick and his death caught me by complete surprise and made me very very sad.
It’s been two years and I still find myself think that I wish that he was around. I never met anyone like him. And he is truly missed even from afar.
His family is lucky to have been part of his life. He is a special man and dear to my heart.

I have worked with Bart for a few years, and have found a loving man, and an honest businessman. His death is a shock to me. I found it on the internet when it got really strange that I cannot get a hold of him.
Bart was a real Mentch. Fun to work with. A huge resource.
His death is a real loss, and he will be forever remembered.
I am sorry for humanity's loss with Bart being gone.
May his memory be a blessing to everyone who knew him.

I always felt myself part of the Weprin family, as the eldest of the eight boys, "Weep", was not only my mentor, but a most close friend. This family was highly respected and one of the most charitable in Dayton, Ohio. As the saying goes " the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" and all the siblings certainly did follow suit. Bart's passing is a lost to all. G-d bless and rest in peace.

I am going to miss that man's face! Enjoyed many dinners with him and Linda at the Oakwood Club. I will never forget the look on Bart's face when we had dinner with him and his fish arrived standing straight up on a stand, head intact. He tried his hardest to convince them to take it back and prepare it minus certain parts. It was a priceless moment!

Really sorry for the Weprin family. You are in my thoughts.

Dear Weprin Family; My condolences on Bart's passing. We were fraternity brothers at Ohio State and Bart was someone who, once you met him, you knew he was a special person. I have many fond memories of Bart and how he always helped me out while at OSU. The true measure of a person's life is how he is remembered and what people really thought of him. In your time of grief, know that Bart will be remembered as a really great guy in all aspects of his life. That is the highest compliment anyone can receive and he deserves it!

Bart and I lived in the same neighborhood, we went to the same elementary school, high school and college together. In essence we grew up together.
He was a great friend and I am sure a great dad. Even though I haven't seen him much since school I will miss him very much. I am sure he is helping me write this so I know he will always be with me.

I Haven't been in contact with Bart for a number of years but that dosen't stop me from remembering him as a sweet, kind and funny cousin to my then husband. Bart used to hang out with us in our first apartment
those were some good times that I
fondly remember.
The best that one can hope for in life
is to be loved and remembered, Bart was just such an outstanding individual and will
never be forgotten.

Dear Weprin's. My sincerest condolences on the untimely passing of Bart. He was a special friend in so many ways too numerous to mention. His ability to light up a room, bring joy and happiness into almost every occasion, never burden anyone with his issues and always be there when needed were just a few of his strengths. I was blessed to have him in my life since our Freshman year at OSU and I treasure our friendship and the great memories. I can only hope and pray that you are strengthened at this difficult moment by your many happy memories of Bart and the knowledge that he loved you and knew that he was loved by you and by so many others. Barton Winston was one of a kind! May he Rest In Peace.

Bart was a great man. When I started my business over five years ago he was one of my biggest supporters. I would not be where I am today without his support. I can't thank him enough. He will be greatly missed.
