News Death Notice
SPIERS, Betty L. 84, formerly of Dayton, more recently of Piqua, passed away at 3:40 am Monday, June 15, 2015 at the Piqua Manor Nursing Home. She was born May 29, 1931 in DeGraff to the late Mahlon and Florence (Runkle) Everingham. She married Harry Spiers April 18, 1953 in Brookville, Indiana; he preceded her in death February 20, 1997. Survivors include three sons, William M. (Sylvia) Spiers of Dayton, David L. (Susan) Spiers of Troy, Mark A. (Shelley) Spiers of Arcanum; ten grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son Calvin Douglas Spiers and two brothers Wayne Calvin Everingham and Hugh Everingham. Mrs. Spiers was a 1949 graduate of Rosewood High School earned her degree in nursing from the Mercy Hospital of Hamilton. She worked as a Registered Nurse at the former Dettmer Hospital of Miami County for sixteen years, Grandview Hospital of Dayton and the Dayton VA Medical Center for ten years. A service to honor her life will begin at 10:00 am Friday, June 19, 2015 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Keller officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to one's favorite charity. I grew up on the farm next to Betty's parent's farm, Putnam Road. She was a very sweet person.

My Mom (Lois Wieland) and I are so very sorry for your loss. She will be surely missed by many. We enjoyed sitting on her porch and solving the world's problems. MY Mom will miss her and so will I. She was a wonderful lady. Lois Wieland and Paula Collins
