News Death Notice

MORROW, Carrie (Whaley) of Fairview Avenue, Dayton, OH, slipped away to be with the Lord early Wednesday Morning, September 16, 2009. She was born the fifth of 12 children to James and Mary Whaley on April 27, 1917 in Lone Star, South Carolina. Carrie or "Ma" as she was lovingly known to many, was a resident of Dayton, Ohio for 60 years. Carrie was a member of the Democratic Club for 25 years and a member of the Eastern Star for 30 years. She is a member of Bethesda Temple Apostolic Church. Preceded in death by five children Thomas Morrow, Jr., Nathaniel G. Morrow, Arnetta Morrow, Yvonne Wagner and Christine Pullens. She was married in 1937 to the late Thomas Morrow, Sr. Left to mourn her memory are Mary Olden, James R. Morrow, Josephine Hale, Clifford Morrow, William Morrow and adopted son Cornelius Jones, of Charleston, West Virginia; sister Fairy (Dan) Coleman, of Niles, OH; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Carrie was the Matriarch of the Whaley- Thomas family and the proud grandmother of 36 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren, 58 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Bethesda Temple Apostolic Church, 3701 Salem Avenue, with Elder Andrew Whaley eulogist. Interment Woodland Cemetery. Viewing 9:00 AM until the time service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Ceremonies entrusted to McLin Funeral Chapel Northern Hills, 2801 North Gettysburg Avenue.
