So sorry to hear of his passing. I first met him as a contractor on a man tech program to build a superconducting generator in 1975. As a professional he was first rate and through the years we developed a long term professional relationship. Fortunately we also developed a personnel friendship as well.

I used to operate on a model railroad that Charles also operated on - Rendell Schetter's RIPAC. We have many great evening there. In recent years. I have seen him a few times at other model railroad event. He was a nice man.

I met Chuck in the early 1970s because of our common work focus on the technology of superconducting high power generators. We became good friends and co-researchers and have maintained contact ever since. I was very sorry to hear of his passing. My deepest sympathy to Beverly and the Oberly family.

So sorry to hear of Chuck's passing. He was an outstanding technical specialist in the field of superconductivity and a real asset to the Aerospace Power Division. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

I was very sorry to hear that Chuck Oberly has left us. I knew him as that astute technology expert at AFRL with thorough understanding of many aerospace electric power systems. He was always willing to share his knowledge and help folks who sought his views. I knew that a phone call to him always brought in a slew of information and guidance. I will miss him.

Chuck was a great engineer and mentor to so many in the power and thermal industries. He had a enthusiasm for engineering that could not be missed when he was in the room So glad I got to see him on March at a technical conference. He will be sorely missed.
