Clifford SUTTMILLER Obituary

96, of Appleton, Wisconsin, (formerly of Dayton, Ohio) passed on December 14, 2012. Cliff was born in Batesville, Indiana on September 12, 1916 to Theodore E. and Caroline P. (Kirschbaum) Suttmiller. Cliff was a 1938 graduate of the University of Dayton. He was a US Army WWII veteran who served in Europe and the Pacific from 1941-1946. After the war, Cliff returned to Dayton to work in the family business, Suttmiller's Restaurant. He and his 3 brothers owned and operated the popular establishment for almost 50 years. Cliff and Marcille McKirnan of Celina, Ohio were married on January 24, 1948.After retiring from the restaurant business in 1994, Cliff and Marcille moved to Tarpon Springs, Florida, where they enjoyed over 10 wonderful years of retirement. In 2006, Cliff and Marcille moved to Appleton, Wisconsin to be closer to family. Cliff is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marcille; his four children, Diane (John) Barkmeier, Appleton, WI, James (Martha) Suttmiller, Mequon, WI, Carol (Paul) Belden, Carmel, IN, Julie (David) Rom, Lawrenceville, GA; ten grandchildren, Andrew (Joanne), Sarah (Christopher), Lauren, Margaret, Eric, Kathleen, Megan, Kiersten, Hannah and Patrick; three great-grandchildren, Amelia, Charlotte and Finley; two sisters, Sister Marjorie Suttmiller, Cincinnati, OH and Ruth Tokasey, Fountain Hills, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Alvin, Theodore and William. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Peabody Manor, Dr. Joyce Bauer and Thedacare Hospice who lovingly cared for Cliff during his final years of life. A private family service was held on Saturday, December 15 in Appleton. A celebration of Cliff's life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the George F. Peabody Foundation, 2600 Heritage Woods Dr., Appleton, WI 54911 or Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, 701 Columbia Pkwy., Cincinnati, OH 45215.

I was a co worker and friend of Ruth Tokasey and her children. My sincere condolences to Ruth! She spoke of her brother a lot! Dayton wjll never be the same without this wonderful family!
