Daniel HEBERLING Obituary
News Death Notice
HEBERLING, Daniel Francis 66, of New Carlisle, passed away on June 24, 2016, due to complications encountered during liver transplant surgery. He was born July 23, 1949, in Dayton, Ohio, to Francis and Lucille Heberling. As a child, his family purchased Silver Lake outside of New Carlisle, Ohio, which he would make into a large part of his life and legacy. Dan grew up amongst three elder brothers and one younger sister at Silver Lake. He was inducted into the Army in 1968, was sent to Vietnam in 1969, and returned a veteran of the Vietnam War in 1970. It was at Silver Lake that he would meet and marry his wife, Terri Heberling (née Fileccia), in 1983. After his marriage, he took over operations of Silver Lake Beach Club with his sister, Francille, for company picnics and health and recreational activities. He dedicated his life to his cherished wife and three children, his land, and his love of barbecue. He was an avid harmonica player, and could always be found listening to the blues. As a large-hearted man of infinite kindness and forgiveness, he touched many lives that came through his gates to find work and shelter. A very proud veteran, he commissioned a Vietnam Memorial next to a hillside spring at the lake in 1985, in recognition of his fellow soldiers both living and lost. Dan is survived by his beloved wife Terri; his son Jacob; his son Chad, wife Kirby, and granddaughter Saylor; and his daughter Danielle and granddaughter Cora. He also leaves his brother Richard and wife Teresa; his brother Paul and wife Sandra; his brother Fred; his sister Francille and husband Jeffery; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A memorial gathering will be held at Silver Lake Beach Club in New Carlisle on July 2, 2016, from 4-7 PM. With respect to Dan, there will be no alcohol allowed at the celebration. In lieu of flowers, the family would love for donations to be made to the Dayton Veterans Affairs Medical Center or the Disabled American Veterans.

I remember fishing in a boat on The Lake while Dan would swim his laps. I would go home to my pool and want to swim like Dan. Miss him and so sorry for your loss.
