Darin Wilson Obituary
Wilson, Darin C.
Darin C. Wilson, age 36, of Bellbrook, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025.
A 2008 graduate of Bellbrook High School, Darin went on to pursue an impressive academic journey at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, a Master's Degree from the Russ College of Engineering, and an additional Master's Degree in Finance. Through unwavering determination and focus, he achieved licensure as a Professional Engineer in the state of Ohio and obtained his Single Engine Aircraft Aviation license.
Darin began his professional career as a Systems Engineer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, where he supported various program offices. His career later took him to Destin, Florida, where he worked as a Systems Architect and Test Engineer at Eglin Air Force Base. After returning to Ohio, he continued his work as a Test Engineer in the Advanced Aircraft Division of the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Wright-Patterson. There, his expertise in systems engineering and testing contributed significantly to the development of strategies for next-generation air dominance platforms-an effort in which his contributions were highly valued.
Darin was known for his hardworking nature, quiet humility, and relentless pursuit of excellence. A lifelong athlete, he found a true passion in golf, a love that began in childhood with early morning rounds alongside his "Papaw" and a memorable homemade sandwich at the turn. In high school, he was named the 2007 SWBL Individual Champion. As an adult, he remained an avid golfer, playing regularly at Sugar Valley and Walnut Grove Country Clubs, where he earned the title of club champion at both. He achieved multiple holes-in-one over the years-milestones his family celebrated with pride.
Beyond golf, Darin enjoyed scuba diving, boating, flying, and cheering on the Cincinnati Bengals. He especially cherished attending playoff victories in Kansas City and Buffalo with friends and family. During his time in Destin, he volunteered on weekends with a U.S. Army-operated charter fishing boat, deepening his love for fresh seafood and cooking. Summers often found him at Norris Lake, enjoying watersports like slalom skiing, wakeboarding, wakesurfing, and tubing with his brothers and close friends.
Darin had a deep love for the ocean, frequently visiting the beaches of Florida and the Caribbean, where he logged numerous scuba dives. While living in Destin and spending winter holidays in South Florida with his family, he began each day with energetic runs on the beach. He was also known for his signature fruit smoothies-always made with fresh ingredients and generously shared with loved ones.
Darin was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Carroll "Mamaw" Fryman; paternal grandparents, Willard and JoAnn Wilson; and his aunts, Debbie Wilson and Barb Fryman.
He is survived by his loving parents, Dan and Cindy Wilson; brothers Brent (Monica) and Nolan Wilson; nephew and niece, Walton and Magnolia Wilson; grandfather, Harold "Papaw" Fryman; aunts and uncles Chuck, Craig (Laura), Chris (Teresa), and Patrick (Steven) Fryman; and many cousins: Dionne, Jake, McKenna, Ben, Ellie, Alex, Abby, Claire, and Ethan Fryman.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Darin's life at a gathering from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday, September 2, at Sugar Valley Country Club in Bellbrook. A memorial service will follow at 10 AM on Wednesday, September 3, at Conner & Koch Funeral Home in Bellbrook, with Dave Ringhiser officiating.
