My husband, Jim, and I extend our sincerest thoughts, sympathy and condolences to the Mattes family. Judge Mattes gave us both our starts in 1988 at Juvenile Court in the field of Criminal Justice. We both are grateful to him for that as the type of person and boss he was made us both continue to do what we still do now for as long as we have. A great individual indeed.

Judge Matters was a good, fair judge who helped me through a lot of things when I was younger. He went to high school with my grandpa and I was in trouble a lot. I probably should have been locked up a few times, but he would always give me a chance to better myself and I will never forget him.
