Dewey BROWNING Obituary

BROWNING, Dewey Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving children on November 7, 2018. Born on April 22, 1935 in Lily, Kentucky to William & Frances (Hurley) Browning. Graduated from Hamilton Big Blue in 1953 and then became a member of the Ohio National Guard for three years. In 1956 he married the love of his life Naomi Jewel Browning (Hibbard). They enjoyed 57 years of marriage that was anything but boring. Out of this union came five sons and one daughter. For many years Dewey was manager for his sons in North End baseball throughout Farm League, Little League and Babe Ruth. In 1978 the family moved to Fairfield, Ohio. First thing dad did was build a basketball court in the backyard. And so began the legend of his incredible left hooksimply unstoppable (his right one was pretty good too). Pick up games were played all summer long and Dad was in his glory. He was a pretty good softball player as well and continued to play in the 65 & over league in his later years at Ford Baseball Fields. He loved watching all sports but his favorites were UK basketball, Buckeye football as well as the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals. But above all else he was a family man. He simply adored his grandkids and great grandkids. Always supporting them and attending all their sporting events. Big guy was just a big softy with a huge heart. He was preceded in death by his parents (lost his mother when he was only three years old), loving twin sister Jewel and toddler sister Esther. In 2013 he lost his loving and devoted wife Naomi and he has simply been lost these last five years without her. He is survived by his sons Randy (Angie), Pat (Lori), Scott, Casey (Gina) and Derrick 'Double D' and daughter Jodi (Robert). Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. We find comfort in knowing that mom and dad are reunited and together forever. Heaven now has the best parents, grandparents, great grandparents and most pure hearted souls this world has ever seen. Funeral services will be held at Brown Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 3:00pm with Dale Werk officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2:00 until time of service. The family would like to thank the staff at Birchwood Care Center for taking good care of dad the last few years. www.browndawsonflick.com

Never got the chance to play baseball for your dad, but always thought he and your mom were some of the best. Very sorry for your loss.
