Elma WILSON Obituary

WILSON, Elma June Age 88, of Dayton, Ohio passed away peacefully on Friday, October 11th, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her sweetheart and loving husband of 64 years, Roy E. aka (Stubby), father and mother Edward H. and Edith Jackson, sister, Wilma Kumm, brothers, Hubert, Neil, and Stanley Jackson; brother in law, Robert Wilson and sister in law, Katie Jackson, Margaret Wilson and her cousin Frances Block. She is survived by daughters, Deborah Kay Quedeweit (Duane) of Dayton, Ohio and Kimberly Wilson (Bobby) of Florence, Ky., along with nieces, nephews and many friends. She was a full time dedicated homemaker, home room mom, active in the PTA, Brownie leader spilling over into Girl Scout leader, and any and all activities involving Debb and Kim and all the while, remaining at Roy's side in his many interests. In 1965 due to her leadership ability, she was 1 of 2 Girl Scout leaders in Ohio invited to "Camp Macy" in New York for a week. 1966 brought a new challenge. She and Roy started building the garage at Lake Cumberland. Chief cook, dishwasher, brick hauler; you name it and she was there. Repeat a year later in building their home. After retiring from Marriott, she became involved in preparing and serving food to the homeless and Recovery International was another one of her passions. Fall was her favorite time of the year. She once told the girls that although things would die for a few months; Spring would always come. She no longer has to wait for her Spring. Once again, Stubby and June are holding hands in the Spring of their eternal life. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 15th, from 4-7 pm at Tobias Funeral Home-Far Hills Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 16th at 10 am also at the Funeral home. Condolences may be sent to www.tobiasfuneralhome.com

Sorry I just found that June had passed. I no longer get Dayton paper.

Jun e was the mom friend always ready to listen and give advise. Heaven gained an angel to walk along side another, your dad. Such great people.

June was my best friend for many years, growing up together, attending Stivers High School. I was in the class before her older brother Neil, who was my husband for nearly 70 years. She was younger than I and she loved to go out to movies. We enjoyed the Stivers Tigers football games, too. My family and the Jackson family all attended Central Baptist Church in the neighborhood, where Neil and I were married. I have a lot of sweet memories of those special days at church when all the mothers wore corsages on Mother's Day, and when the church was decorated for holidays. Of course we were all there to help and those were fun times. I hope you will all remember we were all not only related, but a church family as well. Love, Wilma Jackson

My favorite memories of Aunt June are, of course, at the lake. I can still hear her yelling, "Good Morning!" at the top of her lungs, sometimes before we even got up. One Sunday afternoon, June was leaving the lake and she came over to say goodbye. My friend, Tom Beatty, kissed her goodbye, then backed up and grinned, and said: "You've never been kissed until you've been kissed by one of the Jackson girls!" My condolences to all the family - love, Shari

June loved getting to the lake on a Friday evening when days were long in summer--she'd head down to the water, the sun was still out until 8:00 or 9:00 and the air and water were so warm. She would "take a bath," which was just a dip in the water with a little soap on her face and arms. So refreshing after a long car ride. One evening several of us went to the shore together and June asked, "Do you remember that Girl Scout song?" and we sang it. Just like that. (Being a teenager, I'd normally have faked laryngitis rather than sing a Girl Scout song! But it was tremendous fun.) I'll always remember her that way, so content with Roy and Deb and Kim, enjoying simple pleasures like a quick dip and singing with anyone who'd join in a song. My mom caught June laughing at a joke on Dad's boat one day and it's as happy as happy gets. Deb, Duane, Kim and Bobby, we grieve with you that this happiness is no longer with us in the same way, yet we'll always be grateful to have shared in the joy.
