News Death Notice

SCHEAR, Eugene C. age 94, of Dayton and Lake Worth, Florida, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2011. He was born in 1917 to Abe and Sara Schear, graduated from Stivers High School and The Ohio State University. Mr. Schear was president of Sigma Alpha Mu while at OSU. He served as a Master Sergeant in the Army during World War II. Mr. Schear was the seventh of eight children and was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Max, Hyman, Harry, Orby and Burt; sisters, Rose Liff and Tillye Antman. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Doris; son & daughter-in-law, Lee and Patti of Dayton; daughter & son-in-law, Micki and Michael Ferar of Petaluma, CA; granddaughters, Sophia, Libby and Laura; grandsons, Nick and Sam; as well as numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Mr. Schear was the long-time operator of Liberal Markets, headquartered in Dayton and Schearbrook Land and Livestock, one of the largest cattle breeding and land development operations in the nation. As an entrepreneur and pioneer in those and other industries, he had interests in motels (LaQuinta), institutional food distribution (Concord Provisions), various other real estate and investment enterprises including Sherbrooke Estates, a large country club residential development in Palm Beach County, Florida, where he resided the past thirty years. He was a past board member of Beth Abraham Synagogue and held many offices with numerous community, national and Jewish organizations. Eugene fiercely loved his family and was devoted to the communities in which he lived. Funeral service 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 15th at the Beth Abraham Synagogue, 305 Sugar Camp Circle with Rabbi Beranrd Barsky and Cantor Andrea Raizen officiating. Interment Beth Abraham Cemetery. If desired memorial contributions may be made to Beth Abraham Synagogue in Eugene Schear's memory. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Marker & Heller Funeral Homes, North Main Street Chapel.

We work many years for Liberal mks . Mr SCHEAR was a good man
to work for . we miss Liberal .the meats was the best .the stores were a pleasure to shop in .

How I will miss his unmatched wit, insatiable lust for life and the deep affection he held for his sister, my mother, Tillye Antman.
We were in touch often throughout the years and I will remember him with great admiration, appreciation and love.
