Charles Schear of Mentor, MN passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Graveside service for Chuck will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at First English Cemetery at Mentor, MN with Reverend Timothy Lundeen officiating.

Charles Duane Schear was born on March 13, 1951 at Crookston, MN son of Laurel and Betty (Farden) Schear. He was raised in Crookston and Mentor area graduating from Mentor High School class of 1969.

Chuck joined the Local Iron Workers Union #793 of Fargo, ND which later merged with Local #512 of St. Paul, MN where he worked and traveled all over the country. He retired from the Union in 2001.

He had a longtime companion, Yvonne Boucher being together for 33 years.

Chuck enjoyed fishing, hunting, more fishing, visiting and having coffee every morning, attending auction sales. He enjoyed building and creating things to work smarter not harder. He was an active member of the Sportsman Club and served on the Mentor City Council.

Chuck is survived by his daughters Kim (Tim) Larson of Fertile, MN, Karin (Chad) Braun of Fertile, MN and Jodi (Dan) Lene of Fertile, MN; Grandchildren Sydney (Jon) Bertelsen, Payton (Matt) Howell, Camryn (Ryan) Benson, Jakob Braun, Mason Pearce, Dylan Pearce, Katie Pearce, Preston Hovde, Jordyn Berhow; great-grandchildren Peyton, Paisley, Cora, and Colton Bertelsen, Hadley and Harper Howell, and Waylon Benson. One sister Dorothy Blow of Ozark, Alabama, uncles Gordon Farden of Dayton, MN, Dale "Bump" Erickson of Fertile, MN; along with nieces, cousins and many friends.

Chuck is preceded in death by his parents Laurel and Betty; Yvonne Boucher; several aunts, uncles and nephew Michael and his four legged friends Corkey, Daisey, Sammy, Toby, Buddy, Bailey, and Suzie.
