News Death Notice
POWERS, Fletcher Passed away at Hospice Dayton from complications of diabetes on Sunday, March 1st, 2015 at the age of 80. Fletcher is lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Debra Stallworth(her mother, Flora Stallworth) and Tammara Powers (her mother, Annetta Hunt); grandson, Benny R Redmond III; granddaughter, Annesia Powers-Tarrant, all of Dayton, OH; two stepsons, Joe Griffin (Robin) and Jeffrey Griffin (Lynn) both of Indianapolis, IN; and special cousin, Theodoric Flemister of Chicago, IL. Fletcher was born in Haines City, Florida in 1935. He graduated from Farragut High School in Chicago, IL and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree from Wilberforce University in Wilberforce, OH in 1964. He worked for the City of Dayton as Director of Roosevelt Recreation Center and Community Liaison in Dayton, OH. He was very involved in the community running basketball camps for children in the community, he retired after 32 years. The family will receive friends, Saturday, March 7, 2015 from 12:00 pm until the time of service at 1:00 pm at Christ Cathedral Church, 51 Best St., Dayton, OH 45405, with Bishop Dr. Leon Stutzman, Pastor; Bobette Baber, Officiating; and Reverend Tyrone Curtis, Eulogist. To the family no words are really of any comfort at this time. So knowing how many peoples lives he touched and changed and given so many oppportunities to, whom maybe otherwise would not have made it, if it had'nt been for "Fletch" in their lives. I myself am a better person just to have known him and if rewards are given and mansons are assigned in heaven by the lives one influenced on earth then, he has an enormous one with much love and respect.. To Debra and family. My heart and prayers are with you and I pray that Our Lord and Savior gives each of you peace and comfort now and days which follow.
