News Death Notice
BENSON JR., Fred Sonny age 71 of Dayton passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Miami Valley Hospital. A native of Dayton. Preceded in death by father Fred Benson Sr.; mother Virginia E. Cochran; 2 sons, 1 daughter, 2 brothers, 1 sister. Survivors include wife Mary A. Benson; 2 sisters Barbara Smith, Shirley Pritchett; 2 brothers Henry Benson all of Dayton, Ronald Benson, California; 28 children, many grandchildren, great grandchildren; a host of other relatives & friends. Funeral service will be held 1PM Friday, July 16, 2010 at H.H. Roberts Funeral Home, 38 S. Gettysburg Ave. Rev. John H. Revere Jr. officiating. Visitation Friday 11AM - 1PM. Family will receive friends 12- 1PM. Interment Dayton National Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at [email protected].

PaPa Im lost for words. You being here always filled the empty hole in my heart i had for my dad. Now all i have is the memories of stories to fall bac on. Do me a favor and embrace my dad and tell him " I love him so!" and PaPa I love you too!! Now you shall never suffer again!! I'm sure I've made the both of you proud. Sonny was one of my favorite cousins and we do have a lot
of cousins via the (Cochran) klan which we are decendants of Sonny's mother and my mother were sisters I never got to meet his mother my auth Virginia but Sonny loved her dearly he named a couple of his daughters after her. Wow it's hard to believe he's gone we use to have wonderful times together at get togthers and different functions I will truely miss him and will try and remember just the way he was so loving caring and loads of fun rest in peace my dear cousin.

Sonny you just don't know how truly you will be missed. All of us on Roosevelt are truly in shock. The street is shrouded in sadness because a good friend is gone.You were funny, kept us all laughing all the time, and you were just a true genuine friend to have.
