George Thompson Obituary

Thompson, George Charles "Chuck"

George Charles Thompson (Chuck), 79, was born September 20, 1945, in Berwind, WV, and departed to be with his Savior on August 19, 2025. George served in the US Army and completed two tours in Vietnam. He proudly wore his Vietnam Vet hat, jacket, and displayed 'Vietnam Vet' stickers on every car he ever owned. Like many front-line soldiers, Chuck struggled upon returning from Vietnam, but through prayer and by God's grace, he regained his focus-then BINGO became his vice. Even after decades of regaining his focus, Chuck was up and at it before sunrise to attend his 'meetings' and then to play BINGO. He made many friends at the BINGO Hall, where he was known as 'Bingo-40,' and on the Casino Bus. Chuck is survived by his mother, Anna Mae; his sister, Inez Ruth; his brothers Joe (Cassandra), Nelson, Robert, and Malcom (Anne); special niece Anna (Pablo); a host of other nieces and nephews; and special friends Peggy, Char, and Alex. He was a member of the Church of Christ at Residence Park and served under Minister Hugh Solomon.

Chuck will always be remembered for his gentle spirit.

No more fear. No more shame. It is well with my soul.
