News Death Notice
THACKER, Geraldine H. age 84 of Dayton, passed away March 2, 2012 at Stone Spring of Vandalia. She was born December 4, 1927 in Pikeville, KY to the late Nealy and Cora Hurley. In addition to her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus E. Thacker; brothers and sisters: Laura Bishop, Lawrence Hurley, Jack Hurley and Emogene Slone. Geraldine is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Paul and Patricia Thacker and Joey and Dena Thacker; grandchildren: Cheryl Adkins, Karen Grambsch, Matthew Thacker and Sara Thacker; great grandchildren: Kyle and Kaitlyn Adkins, Jenna, Jason and Andrew Grambsch; brothers and sisters: Myra Good, Dorothy Miller, Kelly Hurley, Fairly Hurley and James Hurley; numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, where the family will receive friends for one and a half hours prior to the service, from 9:30 to 11:00 am. Pastor Tom Bowman officiating. Burial to follow at Byron Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Geraldine's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 3797 Summit Glen Road, Suite G100, Dayton, OH 45449.
