GREER, Herschel Walter "Hersh" age 84 of Dayton, died Tuesday, December 19, 2006. He was a graduate of Patterson Co-op High School. Hersh was well known in the Dayton Area Tool and Die community. He was a first class tool maker who was a teacher to all. He was the owner of Greer Tool and Die, Megacity Tool and Die and part owner of Clover Industries. Hersh enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Circle 8 Square Dancing Club. He was the co-founder of the Northmont Amateur Baseball League with John M. Gorman. Hersh was a US Army veteran and he flew Cessna Artillery Scouts during WWII. He was a Life Member of the VFW Post in W. Carrollton. He is preceded in death by his wife Virginia and a brother Buford Greer. Survived by 2 daughters Donna and her husband Joe Mergler of W. Milton, Rebecca and her husband Tim Mergler of W. Milton, 2 sons Bill Greer and his wife Linda of Clayton, Mike Greer and his wife Teresa of Clayton, 12 grandchildren Joe (Georgia) Mergler, Ed (Melanie) Mergler, Scott (Michelle) Mergler, Ted (Kristin) Mergler, Michelle (Scott) Rocke, Julie (Curt) Davis, Shari (Joe) Russell, Kenny and Dylan Greer, Sam, Max and Jon Greer; 12 great grandchildren; 1 brother Fred (Norma) Wallace of Jacksonville, FL, sister-in-law and husband Martha and Thurman McCowan of Dayton and former daughter-in-law Marsha. Services and a Tribute of Hersh's Life will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Polk Grove United Church of Christ 9190 Frederick Pk at National Rd. by Father John D. MacQuarrie. Interment Polk Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Baker-Hazel & Snider Funeral Home & Crematory 5555 Philadelphia Dr. at N. So many wonderful memories. I will always remember the trips to the lake. I can still here him saying, "Hey Marsh....you got to come over here at look at this." He loved that place. I'll never forget the wonderful display of all the stockings on the mantel at Christmas and the fun-for-everyone Easter egg hunts. My favorite memory was his smile when he would say, "fantastic." Lots of great memories.

I am sorry to hear about loss your dad and now, he is with his younger brother, Buford. I am sure they will playing euchre card game together partner in heaven which I gave euchre cards in my dad's hand. I have alway remember your dad are great man and fun hanging around in early my age.
