Family-Placed Obituary

NEFF, Hope Elizabeth 51 of Xenia, passed away early Saturday morning at her residence following a prolonged illness. She was born March 23, 1953 in Connellsville, PA, the daughter of Clyde and Betty (Hendrickson) Gilbert. Hope was a dedicated registered nurse for over 23 years, most recently employed at Greene Oaks Health Care Center. She was an avid camper, fisherwoman, enjoyed all water sports, crocheting and attended the Dayton Ave. Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Alice Hendrickson; and her step-father, Lawrence C. Douglas. She is survived by her mother, Betty Douglas of Maryland, her father, Clyde Gilbert of PA; partner and best friend, Larry Spiller of Xenia, three daughters; Deborah (Fred) Baxley, Xenia, Teresa "Madison" Neff, West Carrollton, Julie (William) Tegeler, San Diego, CA, granddaughters, Alexis and Stacie, two brothers Robert Coligan, Florida, David (Janet) Coligan of Maryland; her best friend, Terri Holt of NC; and many friends and loved ones. Her family will remember her as the strongest and kindest woman they ever knew. Memorial service will be held 7 PM Tuesday at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit Street, Xenia. Friends may call Tuesday evening 5 PM until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice or The Wellness Connection of the Miami Valley in her memory.
