Irene WETZEL

WETZEL, Irene Age 95, of Brookville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Hospice of Dayton, following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Wetzel, Jr. in 1989. Irene was affectionately known as "Grandma Wetzel" to all of her family, friends, and members of her community. She was the matriarch of love and knew no strangers. Her door was always open to minister to, inspire, and impact all of those who came into her presence. Irene was a legend whose prayers and ministry was felt by people all over the world, from Brookville, Ohio to such faraway places as Indonesia and Korea. Irene is survived by daughters, Cynthia (Tim) Woxman, Barbara (Lee) Falknor & Marilyn Wetzel Caporini; sons, Douglas (Julie) Wetzel & Daniel (Kathy) Wetzel; Irene was blessed to have 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. A legacy of teachers, artists, nurses, builders, musicians, and entrepreneurs, all carrying on her spirit of gratitude and joy for this life and the next. Oh happy day! A funeral service will be held 7 PM Fri. Jan. 19 at the Dayton Living Word Church, 926 E. National Rd. Vandalia, OH 45377, with Pastor Pat Murray officiating. Visitation will be held at the church Friday from 4 PM until service time. Burial will be held in Mt. Zion Shoup Cemetery, Beavercreek at 10 AM on Sat. Jan. 20.
