Jean B. Caruso, 89, our beautiful Mother, passed away May 11, 2017. Mom was a native of Syracuse and a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, North Syracuse. She was predeceased on April 12, 2016, by our father and her loving husband of 67 years, Nunzio S. Caruso. She was also predeceased by her Mother, Margaret Mahaney Wolfe; sister, Nancy Fikes; brother, Arthur Wolfe; and grandson, Mark Rung.
Family was Mom's greatest love and passion. One example was her never-ending love, devotion and support for our Dad. She and Dad worked as a team until Dad needed special care. When that time arrived, Mom was there 24 hours per day. Mom was always there for family and the lessons we learned from her actions will last a lifetime.
In her quiet but forceful manner, Mom was on the forefront of woman's rights. She was a factory worker from the late 1940's forward at GE, Bristol and New Process Gear. Both she and Dad always worked and provided for the family. Their work ethic has been learned by all of us.
Surviving are Mom's children, Antonio (Rebecca Griswold) Caruso, Dawn (Kent) Scullion, Scott (Kathleen) Caruso and Judith Caruso; grandchildren, Lily Scullion, Eric Scullion, Martin Zahariev, Gregory Caruso, Caroline (Michael) Elsas and Ian Rung; sister, Margaret Faes; brothers, Robert (Nancy) Wolfe and Thomas Baker and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Thursday, May 18 from Noon to 2:00 p.m., with services at 2:00 p.m., at Fergerson Funeral Home, 215 South Main Street, North Syracuse. Entombment will be at Assumption Cemetery after the services.
