Family-Placed Obituary


LACEY, John Francis 87, a lifelong Erie resident, died on Wednesday morning October 4, 2006 at the Englewood Manor in Englewood, OH. He was born in Erie on February 2, 1919 a son of the late James and Barbra Krayer Lacey and moved from Erie to the Dayton, Ohio area last year. John had last worked as a stockroom supervisor at the Erie Strayer Co. and retired in 1981. Previously, he had worked for Baumann Brothers in Erie. He was a graduate of Academy High School and Gannon College and was a Coast Guard Veteran of WW II. Survivors include a son Dr. Daniel J. Lacey and his wife Deborah of Dayton, OH; 2 grandchildren, David and Sarah Lacey; 2 great grandchildren, Benjamin and Evan Lacey; a niece, Barbara Mittner of California. He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Greenwald Lacey Thompson in 2001; a daughter, Kathryn Irish; and several brothers and sisters. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, 5000 Wattsburg Road, Erie, corner of East Gore Rd. and Pine Ave., Friday 7 to 9 PM. Burial will take place on Saturday afternoon at the convenience of the family in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 4245 Union Rd., Suite 108, Cheektowaga, NY 14225.
