John TIBBITS Obituary

TIBBITS, John Lucius Passed away in his sleep on February 10, 2017, at the age of 72, exactly as he would have wished, having spent the prior day in his woodworking shop and the evening enjoying a movie with three of his greatest loves: his wife of 35 years, his golden retriever, and a bowl of Graeter's vanilla ice cream. Only a week earlier he had finished his second Sam Maloof inspired rocking chair and was planning to start a third just in time to brag about it to his fellow woodworkers at their Saturday meeting. His other passions included college football (War Eagle!), playing pool, and spending time with his family. John is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda; his two daughters, Jennifer and Emily; his sister, Ann; and a grandcat he would rather have disowned. Visitation will be held from 9:3010:30am on Tuesday, February 14th at St. Charles Borromeo Parish, followed by a Memorial Mass, then a lunch reception at the NCR Country Club. In lieu of flowers, John would have liked to pay it forward in the form of donations to the American Heart Associate or the Cooperative for Education (CoEd). As his own way of paying it forward, John arranged that his body be donated to Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine.

John always had the perfect comment on any situation no matter if the situation was good or bad. His humor and friendship is one of the most important and cherished events in my lifetime. I was lucky enough to spend many hours together building our Maloof Rockers and we enjoyed every moment. We will miss and love you, John, forever.

Proud of his Maloof Rockers hand made walnut seat.
