Joyce Cannarozzi Obituary

Cannarozzi (Blumenschine), Joyce Annabelle

Joyce Annabelle Cannarozzi, age 86, formerly of Kenton, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at The Carlyle House, in Kettering, Ohio.

She was born on March 9, 1939 in Kenton, Ohio to the late Theodore H. and Dorothy L. (Casper) Blumenschine. She married Robert "Bob" R. Cannarozzi in 1991, and he survives in Kettering.

Joyce graduated from Kenton High School in 1957 and attended Heidelberg College, where she majored in music. In order to pursue a degree in art, Joyce then transferred to Bowling Green State University, where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and teaching certificate in 1961.

Joyce was a gifted artist and used her talent in a variety of capacities. She briefly taught art at Ada Public Schools, was a reserve art teacher for Kenton City Schools, and was then employed as an artist for several years for John Jester Displays, a business that designed and sold holiday decorations to shopping malls across the country. Joyce produced bright, detailed drawings of designs that were then presented to shopping mall management for preview. Mr. Jester and Joyce designed the Christmas display that is still used today at the Hardin County Courthouse.

Joyce was also the Public Relations Director for the Lima Public Library for several years; was employed part-time by Dayton Public Schools, where she ran the "Who Am I?" Museum at Edison Elementary and taught art at Gorman School; and was involved with K12 Gallery in Dayton before retirement. '

Joyce served on the Kenton City Schools Board of Education and was a former member of St. John's United Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved son Matthew R. Hanna; former husband and father of her children Marcus "Mark" E. Hanna; sister Faith Rapp; brother Robert Blumenschine; sister-in-law Sue Peper; brothers-in-law Richard Rapp, David Peper, and Carl McCullough; and nephews Gregory Peper and Kerry McCullough.

Along with her husband, Joyce is survived by her children, Dane M. Hanna (Kelley Yule) and Marcy J. (Chris) Herman; step-children, Lea L. (Matt) Loree and William A. (Lynn) Cannarozzi; grandsons, William Christopher, Dane Matthew, Jack Henry and Marcus Robert Herman; step-grandchildren, Michael Matthew and Alexander James Loree, Cara Alasandra and Corine Catherine Cannarozzi; her sisters-in-law, Kathleen Blumenschine, Carolyn McCullough, and Rita LoPresti; her brother-in-law, Dano LoPresti; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and good friends.

In accordance with her wishes, Joyce's remains were donated to the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine.

At this time, the family plans to hold a private service. If there is a public celebration of life, those details will be announced to the community at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hardin County Community Foundation or the Cure Alzheimer's Fund.

Joyce was a loving, selfless and beautiful person. We love you always and miss you already, Mom.
