Still missing you but the memories remain.

We remembered to pray for Joyce at a Mass that was celebrated at Worthington Christian home this last Tuesday, Jan 14th. It was an honor and pleasure to visit her on Tuesday afternoons for the months she was in Columbus and she appreciated readings from Scripture and received the sacraments devoutly. She was quite aware of her situation and was at peace with her hope and faith in Christ.

Joyce was one of my favorite people. I met her when I married Pat Malloy in 1962. I was privileged to be around the Cummings family throughout the years. Had many great times. Joyce was a great Facebook pal. We would see each other occasionally , mostly sad events. I will miss her and I wish the family my deepest condolences.

Joyce and I attended Stivers and graduated together in May 1959. She seem to always be right across the aisle from me during Home Room the whole time we were at Stivers. I always had to laugh when her and I would be talking. She ALWAYS called me David even though my name was Daniel (Dan). She even signed my Senior Yearbook when we graduated and made her wishes to a David. We laughed about that a lot. The last time I saw Joyce was at our 20 year Reunion 1979. Due to moving around and everything, we never crossed paths anymore. My brother (Stivers Class of 1958) told me about her passing earlier this week. Even though Joyce and I hadn't seen each for so long, I was quite saddened to hear of her passing. We always had a good time at school. I extend my deepest sympathies to her family at this sad time. May her family find solace knowing that she is now with the Creator.

We didn't have the opportunity to know each other very well as children but I am so glad that we connected with her in our later life. We grew to love Joyce from our visits with her and had the privilege of spending some time with her in the last two or three years. Rest in Peach my cousin.

Joyce was one of the most kind and loving persons I have met in life. She was a leader at Stivers High School whom we all looked up to and admired. I am so grateful that I knew her as a classmate and friend throughout life, especially the past ten or so years when we shared so much on Facebook. She represents a life well lived. I am missing her.
