News Death Notice

SABEC, Lawrence Age 90 of Vandalia, passed away Wednesday June 18, 2008 at Alterra Sterling House in Englewood following an illness. He was born November 17, 1917 in Burgettstown, PA son of the late Frank & Mary (Spetich) Sabec. Lawrence was a retired employee of Kroger and Liberal Markets and was an honorary member of the David Sabec VFW Post #9582. He was preceded in death by his first wife Betty (Hyland) Sabec; 2 sons David L. Sabec and Douglas E. Sabec; 2 brothers Frank and Louis Sabec and 2 sisters Mary Hervatin and Katie Tilker. Lawrence is survived by his wife Marie; one son Larry & wife Jo Sabec of Vandalia; 2 sisters Virginia Urmson of Rogers, OH and Cristina Tomacari of Gibsonia, PA; one brother-in-law Thomas & wife Donna Hyland of Centerville, VA; 2 sisters-in-law Marcy Hyland of Kettering and Ruth Hyland of Powhatan Pt., OH and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held Monday June 23 at 10:30am at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia with Rev. Ron Hajarian officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Thomas Howard Memorial Scholarship Fund 146 E. Spring St. St Marys, OH 45885 in Mr. Sabec's memory.
