Leo Sabec Jr., 86, of Mercer, passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Season of Life Hospice Home in Woodruff, Wisconsin.
Leo was born on March 30, 1939, in Montreal, Wisconsin, to Leo Sr. and Lottie (Gulan) Sabec. He attended Hurley High School. He was united in marriage with MaryAnn Cox in Milwaukee in 1957. Leo was a manager at Simpson Electric Company for many years before opening Ace Hardware and Building Supply and the Mercer Drive in Restaurant, in Mercer, Wisconsin.
Leo was a jack of all trades and an avid handyman, who was always willing to lend a helping hand with neighbors and friends, on projects big and small. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing the local lakes and was an avid snowmobile and motorcycle enthusiast.
He and MaryAnn loved to travel and created many memories and family vacations around the world.
Leo was active in many community organizations throughout his life, including the Mercer School Board and most recently Leo was on the board and a volunteer at the Paw Shop.
Leo will be missed by his wife, MaryAnn; two sons, Mike (Kathy Wells) Sabec of Mercer and Dan (Edilson Lima) Sabec of Chicago; two grandsons, Shawn (Samantha) Sabec and Nathan (Angie) Sabec; great-grandchildren, Grayam, Grayson, and Charlotte. Leo is further survived by countless nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters.
A celebration of Leo's life will take place at a later date.

Leo will be dearly missed! He had a big heart, always helping others and serving his community! I will cherish the memories growing up next door to him at the cabin, my siblings and I viewed him as an honorary grandpa! All of our love to the Sabec family! We are grieving with you!
