News Death Notice

MONNIN, Marie age 82, died suddenly on Monday April 8, 2013. Marie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, confidant and was so kind to everyone she loved and befriended. She was an active volunteer giving of her time at the Kettering Government Center, art gallery and many other locations. She and her husband were avid travelers with a special fondness for Canada. She loved University of Dayton Basketball, the Cincinnati Reds and spending time at Town and Country Shopping Center. She will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Howard Joseph Monnin; son, Steven (Jackie) Monnin; daughter, Pamela (Alvin) Franck; grandchildren, Sarah and Elena Monnin, Laura Weis and Christopher Franck; great grandchildren, Lorelei and Dalton Clifford; Brother-in-law, Roger (Phyllis) Monnin; sisters -in-law, Joan Honaker, Mary Borden, Doris Neace, Lois Franke and Dianna Hatton; She was preceded by two bothers-in-law, Jerry and Ronnie Monnin. Per Marie's request a private interment has been held at David's Cemetery. A memorial mass will be held at St. Charles Catholic Church in the near future.

Thanks to all who left messages about my precious mother. She touched so many people, and our family will never be the same, but we know she is in heaven and I take great comfort in that. She had beauty, grace, so much kindness, and so knew all that was going on in the world today. My dad is doing better, knowing he too is so loved.

Her examples will last forever:
Marie was gentle…which really showed her strength
She was kind and thoughtful so her family learned to be the same.
Her humor showed her family the joys of everyday life
She inspired confidence because
she was a good listener so her family could learn how to pass on her gift
She seldom complained so her family learned optimism
Her remarkable community service taught her family they too have a duty outside to give of themselves as well.
Her stamina taught her loved ones to never give up
She is closer than ever to her family…they carry her in their hearts.

My mom was the best. I don't know anybody as classy as my mother was. She was always beautiful, so so kind to all people she encountered in her life. She was so smart and as I say, "hip". She was the best mother, wife, grandma,and great grandma and oh so classy. The last thing I can say is above all she was my friend, and our family lost a treasure that will never be replaced. She is in heaven.

Our hearts and prayers are with you all during this time. Randy and I have many fond memories of Aunt Marie growing up especially around Christmas time Family reunions. Howard will be so lost without his Marie. Marie and I have been great communicators over the last five years, mostly via the telephone. She was a great, classy lady, and in her last years took such good care of my brother. Over the last 59 years, Marie and Howard had such a loving, caring relationship, and shared two great children, Pam and Steve.. She shall be greatly missed by all who knew her.
